Oatman is in the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona, United States, located at an elevation of 2,710 feet in Northwestern Arizona. It began as a small mining camp when two prospectors struck a $10 million gold find in 1915, though the current population is around 100. Today it is known as an interesting place to visit, have lunch, buy a few things and go home with a smile.
 
Visit the historic mining town of Chloride - Chloride is the oldest continuously inhabited mining town in Arizona. Chloride dates back to the 1860's, when Arizona was still considered Arizona Territory. The Roy Purcell Murals are located in the hills behind Chloride. In 1966, Roy Purcell took a break from pursuing a Master's degree in Fine Arts at Utah State University to labor as a miner in the Cerbat Mountains near Chloride, Arizona.
